200 Songs for 200 Klicks
in support of the ride to conquer cancer

This one actually has a legit dedication. According to a story Bono tells in concert, this was the last song Joey Ramone heard before he died of lymphoma, and in the words of Bono, “it suddenly turned this song about a hangover into a gospel tune.”

For Joey Ramone…

At this point I’m just singing songs I like… Once I get caught up on a few, new dedications are coming!

And now… a picture.

Getting the 200 Songs ball rolling again… with a song by Fastball… That you’ve probably not heard in a long time. (Yes, I know that I numbered them out of order).

Dedications will resume shortly, I assure you.

So after scrambling to make 50 by new years, I then took 3 weeks off to do… god knows what. At one point, however, we did make a trip to Blue Mountain where I had intended on getting at least a few songs done. Instead, I got one done… and it’s a little rough because [...]

In the effort to hit 50 before New Years, here’s another one from the Unicorn Sessions. Although, not originally Jimi Hendrix’s song, he did my favourite version. Happy New Year, everybody. May 2010 bring you all happiness, adventure, and prosperity.

This is for everyone battling any form of cancer in their life, in a literal or [...]

For a pretty simple song I’ve been singing my whole life, I couldn’t seem to hit the chords when I needed to… Ahh well, nobody said that there were going to be 200 GOOD performances Natalie, you can have a do-over! Keep the requests coming!

For Natalie Gorman: “Rumour has it that this was [...]

Because we all need friends to get through the tough times… Jackie requested this one.

For Jackie Westelaken:
“I’ve lost my mom, an uncle and sister-in-law to cancer and I am a two-time survivor asmyself (’00 and 05). Outside of the life saving drugs and treatment, I credit the kindness and support of friends and family as [...]

This has been one of my favourite unofficial Christmas songs since it came out.  It’s based on a true story from World War I when German and British soldiers called a truce on Christmas Eve 1914. They started singing songs, and exchanging gifts, instead of shooting each other. So, 95 years later, let us remember [...]

Normally I wouldn’t dream of trying to do a legit cover of this song. It’s a classic. It’s a guitar cliche. It’s a tough song to do strictly acoustic. It’s LOOONG… but hey, I’m taking requests, so I try to give the fans what they want.

For Judy Wetherall.

To include a little more Christmas spirit, I put up my little tree and donned my festive RAPTORS hoodie… ok, the 2nd part was a coincidence. It seemed like the duets raised a little awareness of my little project… so this one is for Megan, the roommate of Kristen who was in the duets.

For Megan [...]

Similar story to #43…  as this was the next song we put on the jukebox.
More Christmas fun…

So one night Kristen and I were sitting around at the bar and this song came on (probably because we picked it from the jukebox)… and between sips from our pint glasses we sang along loudly. In our condition, I thought we sounded pretty good, so I asked if she would help me sing it [...]

Trying to keep the pace up… going to hit 50 before New Years!

For Kyle Edwards: “Dedicated to Andrew Olynyk, my best friends brother who was only 16 years old.”

I know I’ve been stuck at 40 for a while, but I’ve also been really busy  trying to move into a new house and settle that down. When I was out in Edmonton a few weeks ago, I hit up my good friend Kaitlyn for a song request, and she eventually obliged. I absolutely love [...]
