200 Songs for 200 Klicks
in support of the ride to conquer cancer

Although the ride was a month ago, I’m still going to post songs. This weekend I was camping with some buddies at Presqu’il and this is what we could manage around the campfire.

Featuring Duncan Bush.

Okay, so I didn’t finish 200 songs before the ride. However, I did the ride, and we finished all 217km of it! Here is Team Eradicator crossing the finish line in Niagara Falls.
And yes, I’m going to keep going with the songs… at least until I hit 200.

I’ve had a few nights like the ones described in this song… and Greg was responsible for most of them.

For Greg Valiquette.

Here’s another one… I did a late push for donations, and a lot of new requests came with it.

For Mike and Dawn Johnston: “Dedicated to all our family and friends that have dealt with and are dealing with cancer now.”

The Ride is only a few weeks away now, and while I won’t get to 200 before then I’m going to keep going. I’ve raised the minimum $2,500 so every thing is officially a “go.” This request came from my sister, for our mom.

From my sister Diana, to our mommy.

I was listening to Skeletons in the Closest this afternoon and was reminded that I like to sing this song… even though I forgot how to speak at one point towards the end. Those aren’t real words!

I had a bit of time today… so here’s some. Now with no hair! Ben Harper usually does this a bit slower, but I rocked it up a bit.

For Me. Because I like this song.

Although Alicia had requested several other songs, they were generally ones I didn’t know how to play, and were tough to learn (although I’m getting there on some). So when I got a text asking for this one… it went straight to the front of the line.

For Alicia Kenworthy.

Now that I’ve sent out another mass email, I expect some more request to come in… this was the first. Please donate!

For Josh Grunberg – “For my grandmother Anne Mirsky, who passed away from lung cancer a couple years ago.”

Tom also sent some other requests…

For Tom Butters… captain of the Eradicators riding team.

Sometimes, when somebody does you a favour, pay him back. Tom hooked me up with some lighting stuff last week, and this was playing in his office when I walked in.

In honour of their winning some sort of fake Stanley Cup, Jolly Rogers team captain Kyle Geerkens requested this one… and by sheer coincidence, I was wearing a t-shirt I won for a intermural volleyball championship (5 years after I stopped being an eligible intermural player). But whatever… here’s to victory!

For Kyle and the Jolly [...]

I was just trying to get more songs up here, so I kinda flew through this one… and only sang about half the song.

For you… whoever you are.

This is the Meet Joe Black, Finding Forrester, ukelele version… or at least an attempt at it.  I always think of this song as the one that Dr. Mark Green died to in E.R. way back in the day (fittingly from a brain tumour). It is originally performed by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole…

For Steph Ledrew…

Hey all, I heard a buddy of mine was visiting in his brother in the hospital following a brain tumour operation, so I decided to get my act together and get a song up. I tried to slow this one down a little bit just to try something new…
Hope you like it…
